Up for sale is a stunning 1937 Martin D-28 in excellent condition. This golden-era masterpiece features an Adirondack spruce top with classic herringbone purfling, beautifully figured Brazilian rosewood back and sides, a mahogany neck, and an ebony fingerboard and bridge. It also sports the sought-after forward X-bracing typical of pre-war Martins.
The guitar has had a few expert repairs over the years, including a professional neck reset, two small repaired top cracks, a reproduction bridge, and a complete refret — all work was done with care and precision.
The neck measures 1 3/4" at the nut, with a depth of 0.88” at the first fret and 1.08” at the tenth fret. It has a 25.4” scale length and weighs in at 4.46 lbs.
This is an exceptional-sounding D-28 — rich, powerful, and beautifully balanced — a true example of Martin’s golden-era craftsmanship. It comes with both the original hardshell case and a modern Martin case for added protection
