Up for sale, a 1980 Fender Redondo dreadnought acoustic guitar in very good condition playing well and sounding lovely.

This is a made in Japan version of the Redondo which represented the first "modern" reissue of this rarely seen Fender model, with a spruce top, set neck design, and mahogany back and sides. The tone is warm and full, with decent projection from the X braced dreadnought body.

I'm selling as I couldn't not buy it (after I felt the neck and it's super playable action), but already have too many dreadnoughts to justify keeping this one, as we're planning on moving to a smaller house.

The mahogany neck features a medium C shaped profile, rosewood fretboard, and vintage-style fretwire which shows virtually no wear (see pics). The guitar plays cleanly up the neck with comfortable action and at the nut the neck measures 1 11/16" in width, ideal for easy chording and spaced for fingerstyle playing as well.

The headstock is super cool, in good condition (another reason I couldn't not buy it) and the stock tuning machines work well and turn smoothly.

On the body, the carved 'moustache' bridge is a gorgeous piece of rosewood and the action is great. All the internal braces are in good shape, and the guitar has no bowing at the bridge.

Unique to this iteration of the Redondo, the top and back binding match the tortoiseshell pickguard.

Cosmetically, there are a few scratches and dings (most notably around the sound hole and base of the top) which can be seen in the pictures. Overall it is a very well cared for instrument and is in fantastic shape and is structurally sound with zero cracks or repairs.

It comes with a non-original hard-shell case.
