I am offering a Taylor XXV-DR from 2000, the handcrafted in El Cajon, California (USA), and limited to only 500 instruments all solid timber Dreadnought special models to mark the company's 25th anniversary, with a selected Sitka spruce top, back and sides made of spectacularly figured quilted sapele, one-piece mahogany neck with 43.1mm TUSQ nut, bound ebony fingerboard with elaborate 25th anniversary mother-of-pearl/18-karat gold inlay (!), ebony bridge, high-quality Grover Rotomotic Antique gold tuners with ebony buttons and elaborately engraved koa and padouk rosette in a brilliant natural high-gloss finish in mint collector's condition, including Taylor luxury hardshell case, all manufacturer's papers (including C.o.A.) and professional setup with 12-gauge Elixir strings.
This Taylor XXV-DR is a special model limited to 500 instruments at the turn of the millennium, celebrating Taylor's 25th anniversary. In a classic dreadnought design, the XXV-DR combines a variety of extravagant visual details with the finest tonewoods, the finest US craftsmanship, and a sound of exceptional depth and balance. The voluminous body made of three-dimensionally shimmering quilted sapele provides a warm, voluminous foundation, while the fine-grained Sitka spruce top ensures clear highs and enormous projection.
The one-piece mahogany neck with a medium-wide C-neck profile fits comfortably in the hand and allows for a precise playing feel across the entire deep black ebony fingerboard. The detailed anniversary inlay of mother-of-pearl and 18-karat gold at the 12th fret gives the guitar a particularly elegant character, complemented by the hand-engraved rosette of koa and padauk and the elegant gold hardware.
Sonically, the XXV-DR offers exactly what you would expect from a top-of-the-line Taylor: powerful, defined bass, clear mids, and sparkling highs with excellent sustain and dynamic range—perfect for strumming and picking of all kinds, but fingerstyle players will also get their money's worth.
A sound sample of the model can be found above at the end of the photo gallery.
