This is a rare bird. We're incredibly pleased to offer this fully original "1st generation" Gibson P-90 pickup. THIS is what was "new tech" in the 1940's - 100% original with no modifications - just as it left Kalamazoo in 1948.
After Gibson mostly retired the "Charlie Christian" pickup, the next development in electrified guitar sound in Kalamazoo were the P-90 pickups. The early "SLUG" pole p-90's are incredibly smooth and rich sounding pickups.
This is the pickup you'd find in your 1940's ES-300, ES-150, ES-175 or even an L-5 or Super 400 of this era. At 8.09k, it's very strong and articulate. It sounds incredible. We've had only one of these before and they get snatched up quickly - don't miss this one, it won't last long!
