I am selling something very near and dear to my heart - A racked pair of RCA BA-74B amplifiers, modified into microphone preamps, in a professional chassis.
I worked with a great tech- Dave Dick, in SF, to complete a design for the functionality of the front panel of this rack. Dave went through, recapped and replaced busted components, tested everything in the signal path.
These are packed with character, germanium, huge transformers, yet versatile, and very high gain.
I was given the schematic for this mod from a trusted studio owner and engineer friend, who told me “I had my tech build me 2 pairs of these in racks, and sold my Neve 1073’s after having them in my studio for 2 months”
I love the way these sound on drum overheads, vocals, piano.
You can get a crazy unique distorted guitar if you drive the input and pad or compress the output. Love the way my schoeps sound running through these.
Sadly I’m selling these because I need the money, but am hoping they will go to a loving home and get lots of use!
Unit is fully functional, you are welcome to come test it in my studio if you are in the LA area.
