Hello and welcome to the House of Chrome.
You are looking at a vintage 1984 Electro Voice model DS-35 model dynamic cardioid microphone that comes with an original E.V 307 shock mount, short cable and Atlas SW-1 model swivel. This rugged classic studio microphone was made by E.V in the U.S.A for almost 30 years before being discontinued and was a high quality model used for several applications.
Pic # 2 shows this very mic in an older E.V catalog along with a few other models of that time.
Pic # 3 is the actual data sheet showing the mics basic specs and technical characteristics.
It's not included in this sale but you can always make a copy of this on your printer.
I have been told by several singers who have used both the RE-16 and DS-35 that they actually prefer the sound of the DS-35 better. The DS-35 has a flatter response than the RE-16. This is a great mic for toms / drums as well. It has a tone that's very similar to a ribbon mic.
The E.V DS-35 is a light weight microphone set at 150 OHMS (Medium to Low impedance) and it has a smooth, warm tone that's excellent for broadcasting and singing. This was basically an RE-16 model mic without the bass adjustment lever and again, flatter response.
It's also uni-directional picking up only your voice directly in front of the screen and cancelling out unwanted background noise.
I don't know the first year this was introduced but it seems to have started production in the late 1970's to the early 2000's before being discontinued.
It should be noted that this mic has the new upper and lower inner foam liners. These inner foam screens greatly help with the acoustics of the mic as well as keeping the lower screen steady. The foam is in great shape and will last for several decades to come. The foam / pop filter cuts down any unwanted feedback due to wind or breathing. The foam needs to be replaced on all of these older DS-35 mics so keep that in mind if you buy another example from another buyer.
There is another exterior foam pop filter made by Auray that will be included to use if you need it though it's not pictured on the mic. Fits nicely and looks great on the mic. Just one more layer to cut down on unwanted "pop" while live.
The mic measures 7 1/2 inches long and 1 3/4 wide at the screen. Very light and versatile. The only real wear on this mic is on the handle as there is lite scuff marks. Very subtle and won't even be noticed from more than a couple feet away. No fractures, dents or missing paint.
I'd give the mic a solid 9 physically on a scale of 1 - 10. The real beauty is that sound it produces. The mic takes a standard XLR cable which is included. The cable is a vintage Cannon XLR type in excellent condition. Soft, pliable and just 8 inches in length. Simply attach any longer cable as needed.
The Electro Voice 307 model microphone shock mount is included in which to mount the mic too. You can hand this shock mount from any boom arm you have or mount it directly to the top of any desk or floor stand. It's very versatile and the center plastic clip grips the mic nicely allowing for a wide range of tilt up and down. The two side thumb screws allow for tension to hold the angle of the mic firmly in place. The 307 is a high quality shock mount that E.V sold for about 20 years and could hold several classic E.V model mics such as the RE10, RE11. RE15, RE16, PL95, DS35, RE55 & 635A to name a few.
The 307 is a rugged design made of aluminum and comes with the original sage green paint scheme. The center clip is supported by rubber bands that help reduce vibration while the mic is live. The 307 hasn't been sold in may years I believe. At least not in the classic sage green style anyways. This 307 shock mount is a $100.00 item on it's own. It's 100% complete and works perfectly. Very lite wear. Let the detailed pics be your guide. The Chrome plated Atlas SW-1 swivel mount is included as well and in very nice overall physical and working condition. It's a very practical adapter for the shock mount as it allows you to hand the 307 to any boom arm and get the right angle and it turns 360 degrees and tilts in any direction needed. You might not need it for every situation but it will certainly help for those tricky spots and it gives you so many more options.
The SW-1 has the standard 5/8 X 27 thread so using it with any audio gear at all won't be an issue. If you demand an excellent working DS-35 to use frequently with all the extra goodies...this is your mic.
