For sale is a left-handed 1976 Gibson Les Paul Custom in excellent vintage condition and perfect working order. It just received a professional setup with 10–46 strings, and it plays effortlessly with a straight neck, low action, and spot-on intonation. The original Patent Number humbuckers deliver everything you’d want from mid-’70s T-Tops—rich, punchy, and full of character.
Cosmetically, this guitar is remarkably clean for its age. It shows only light playwear: a handful of small dings, light surface scratches, and some typical finish swirling. On the back of the neck, there‘a a cluster of small dark spots in the wood. These are not blemishes but appear to be cosmetic imperfections in the wood and are under the clear coat. The original low/wide frets are in great shape with only minor wear on frets 1–3, mostly under the plain strings. The guitar black lights flawlessly and is free of any cracks, breaks or repairs. (See photos—please excuse any reflections.)
As is common with all Gibsons guitars, one side of the neck has slightly more relief than the other. On this lefty, the treble side has a touch more relief than the bass side. This doesn’t affect playability in the slightest. In fact, because this is a lefty and the relief is on the treble side, (as compared to a righty with this being on the bass side) it’s ideal because it gives you the desired relief for bending in the upper register. The truss rod functions perfectly with room to adjust both ways.
All in all, this is a wonderful example of a vintage lefty LPC that‘a very resonant acoustically, has excellent playability and is one of the cleanest examples we‘ve ever seen. You’d be hard pressed to find a nicer example. Includes the original hard case, which is also very clean.
