About this listing
Up for sale, a 1981 Ibanez Musician MC924 bass in excellent condition and in perfect working order. An early example of the MC924 with features only available from 1980-81, this bass is outfitted with Ibanez’s Super 4 pickups. The MC924 boasts a full 34" scale length and neck through body design, with a three-piece maple neck reinforced with thin strips of walnut. The dark stained ash body wings sandwich a core of mahogany for a very complex and rich tone, and weighing a robust 10lbs 4oz, this bass has a healthy natural sustain with thick low end that growls and punches with great articulation. The "Super 4" pickups have a smooth, present treble response, and the slab ebony fretboard accentuates the note attack and round, present tonal quality of the instrument. This MC924 benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action and accurate intonation.Neck Specs:Wood: Maple (three-piece)Shape: Medium C, measuring .840” 1st fret, .945” 12th fretFretboard: Ebony, 24-fret, dot inlayFrets: Medium jumbo, leveled/crowned, no wearScale Length: 34”Nut: 1 11/16”, bone/brassTuners: VelveTune B IISerialization: C81-prefix (March, 1981)Body Specs:Wood: Ash, mahoganyPickups: Super 4 single coil x2Controls: Volume, Tone, Preamp Gain (center detent), Active EQ On/Off, Bass, Middle, and Treble EQ (center detent), Three-way pickup selectorHarness: Japanese pots date to December, 1980, active electronics powered by 9V batteryHardware: Accu-Cast B brass bridgePlastics: Sure Grip knobs, ridged aluminum knobs (EQ, replacement)The gloss Dark Stain finish shows some expected light pick scuffing on top and light buckle worming, with some finish loss central to the back and a few minor dings on the body as a whole.
