The Hermida Mosferatu is a boutique overdrive and distortion guitar pedal known for its thick, harmonically rich tone and smooth, tube-like breakup, named for its use of MOSFETs and the horror film Nosferatu. Created by Alfonso Hermida, it's a higher-gain version of the Zen Drive and was the flagship pedal of Hermida Audio before the company was acquired by Lovepedal. The Mosferatu offers controls for gain, volume, and tone, with a voice control on later versions, and is popular for its versatility across genres from blues to rock and metal.  Key Characteristics

• Mosfet Clipping:The Mosferatu uses a unique MOSFET clipping circuit, which is a key feature that provides a warm, tube-like distortion and preserves the guitar's natural tone.
• High Gain:It's considered the higher-gain version of the Zen Drive, offering more saturation and a broader range of tones compared to its predecessor.
• Smooth Tone:Despite its higher gain, the Mosferatu is renowned for its smooth, thick tone with long sustain, even at lower settings.
• Intuitive Controls:The pedal features a straightforward control layout, typically including Volume, Gain, and Tone, with a "Voice" control on later versions to fine-tune the sound.
• Boutique Quality:As a boutique pedal, the Mosferatu is crafted with high-quality components and is favored by guitarists seeking a distinct and versatile sound.

Origin of the Name

• The name "Mosferatu" is a combination of "MOS" (for MOSFET technology) and "Nosferatu" (a classic horror film character). Alfonso Hermida chose the name because he wanted to integrate "Mosfet" into the name and was a fan of horror films.

Relationship to the Zen Drive

• The Mosferatu served as the precursor to the Zen Drive, with Alfonso Hermida starting with the Mosferatu's higher-gain design and then making modifications to reduce the gain and alter the clipping configuration, leading to the development of the Zen Drive. Some players prefer the Mosferatu for its increased saturation, while others prefer the Zen Drive for its greater transparency.
