Punchy powerful tone. To hear a YouTube shorty featuring this bass google "Roland Ray Funky Funk" Another track of mine where this bass stands out is "Roland Ray 2am Jam"  Feel free to request info of history/recordings/records made with this bass. I can send links to many other tracks featuring it.Some are commercially available. Some are free via several online platforms. Hear and judge with your ears keepingin mind what you hear online is but a fraction of the live sound.
Bringing my bass to No.TOM Guitars in Denmark Street for a fully certified professional evaluation document is possible.Their service includes pics of all internal components.
Re: Fender decal ( obviously not original) Judging by the wear shown in the photos, the bass looked aged and worn, almost as it does now, when I bought it 50 years ago, any refinish is likely to have been done years before then, when it must have been quite new. During all these decades it has only ever been used for recording in my two home studios, kept either in its case or standing upright. I have never used it for any live work. I have never once knocked it nor dropped it. Two technicians have worked on it during my ownership, Roger Giffin and Graham Noden. That's it.
At some point, before I bought it, instead of a complete, readily available replacement Spaghetti Fender Precision decal only the Fender portion of a Fender Telecaster decal was fitted by who knows, or why ?
1960's Sherwood Green Fenders were finished using DuPont 2526-H car body paint.Nitrocellulose paint, when aged, is meant to differ in colour between parts exposed to light and the hidden painted area below the scratch plate.
I checked, see pics: The colour under the scratch plate is similar to the rest, hence if Google info is accurate, it will have been refinished early in its life before I acquired it.
Photos of " Faded with age on the body"  and "original metallic under the scratch plate" don't exist on the internet nor in any books on Sherwood Green 1960's Fenders

"I bought it in London in the 1970s - Its finish and state of wear on the body was not much different to what it looks now. There is very little wear on the neck, frets, finger board. 50 years later everything works. Nothing except the volume pot has been changed by me"

Preferably collection in person from UK (London NW6). Payment via bank transfer.

No time wasters. Play it for as long as you like through my vintage setup (Park 75 (KT88)  Altec 4x12 417-8C Alnico)  Then decide whether or not to buy or haggle within reason.

Playing this bass is proof of the pudding, rather than worrying about the volume pot having been replaced many decades ago. Feel free to bring any bass and/or amp for A/B comparison.

Has been used strictly for recording and never been gigged during my long ownership nor been abused, dropped or knocked about.

In the 1980's Roger Giffin, a renowned UK instrument builder, did fret some amazing board/neck work to optimize the action. That was the only time during my 50 year ownership when the neck got removed. I'm 100% certain that if the neck date did not match the year of the back plate number this meticulous expert would have noticed such an important discrepancy and mentioned it to me. The bass has performed flawlessly ever since that service.

I don't expect money to change hands without having the neck removed to prove the back plate number matches the date of the neck. That requires paying for a professional set up so it plays as perfectly as it does now.  Not a big problem but it will not happen until a serious buyer turns up who is hopefully willing to first try the bass with a clear intention of buying it.  A local guitar shop with a good technician is 5 minutes from my place.

For 100% serious international buyers I have no problem taking the bass to No.TOM Guitars in Denmark Street for a fully certified professional evaluation service which includes pics of all internal components.

Very easy to play - Feel and tone are beyond incredible - The present half round strings are decades old yet tune, sound and play perfectly. Being flat on the outside they don't mark or wear down frets.

The pictured hairline at the rear of the head stock has been there since I bought the bass in the 70s.  This hairline has remained absolutely unchanged over the past 50 years. This bass stays in perfect tune. The action is 100% stable.

During my ownership the instrument has been used to record hundreds of original songs in my home studio, many of which are on YouTube and also a classic 1986 Vinyl LP that speaks for itself. All these recordings are available. Compared to short demonstration videos of vintage instruments sold by dealers, auctioneers or family relatives, what I'm offering in terms of demonstrating the palette of tones this bass is able to produce is beyond comparison. It also hasn't been gigged to death and never been left neglected under a bed for long periods.
A strong early CBS Fender case of superb quality and in perfect condition is included.

Genuine buyers are welcome to request .wav files of a variety of recordings made with this bass.

Examples of recordings will be sent via Wetransfer. Recordings made with this bass sound amazing even after YouTube compression, for example this track

I have the same bass in my Ebay shop/ The bass line of the track in the Ebay video was also recorded with this instrument. The audio is a bit degraded because Ebay only allow MP4.

Anyone seriously interested in hearing it uncompressed feel free to request the .wav audio file.
