Part of the company’s Japanese-built Genesis Collection, the Ibanez 540PIII marks a high-performance throwback based on a limited-production spot model from the late 1980s. This solidbody electric guitar boasts a basswood body with classic shred aerodynamics, along with an upgraded 5-piece Super Wizard neck and a fast-playing bound 24-fret rosewood fingerboard. Electronics-wise, the 540PIII dishes out warm, articulate leads with truckloads of harmonic overtones, thanks to an IBZ V8 bridge humbucker, which is bolstered by a rail-style single-coil-sized humbucker in the neck position. The 540PIII’s high-end complement of shred-sanctioned hardware includes an original Edge double-locking tremolo and Gotoh tuning machines.
