Suhr Custom Chambered Standard – Translucent Purple (2003, USA)

(Please check my other listings as well…)

This beautiful Suhr Custom Chambered Standard was built in the USA on December 20, 2003. Suhr is one of those rare brands that truly captures both quality and performance in every single instrument they produce. While many guitars may look impressive but fail to deliver in tone, every Suhr I’ve ever played feels alive and soulful. It’s one of the few brands I deeply respect worldwide, always delivering instruments that are worth every penny.

This particular Suhr is not only incredibly lightweight but also offers an exceptional combination of tonewoods and playability. It’s a comfort-focused instrument that allows you to play virtually any style with ease. Every pick attack and every note on the fretboard resonates with clarity and richness, giving you a sense of joy and inspiration that is hard to find in most guitars.

The body is Alder with a gorgeous Quilted Maple top, paired with a Maple neck and Indian Rosewood fingerboard. While many brands use these woods, the craftsmanship and tonal character of Suhr take this familiar combination to another level. The neck features a 60’s C Vintage Standard profile (.810” - .930”), offering a feel reminiscent of a classic Fender Strat. The Dunlop 6105 stainless steel frets ensure long-lasting durability and smooth playability.

Equipped with a German-made Original Floyd Rose bridge and Sperzel USA locking tuners (my personal favorite for tuning stability), this guitar stays perfectly in tune no matter how hard you play. The pickups are a Suhr JST DSH humbucker in the bridge and JST V60’s single coils in the neck and middle positions—designed for vintage character, yet equally capable of delivering modern tones. The clean sounds are beautifully sweet and articulate.

Additionally, this guitar comes with the Buzz Feiten Tuning System (BFTS), which dramatically improves intonation accuracy and saves time during string changes.

Overall, this is a superb example of Suhr’s artistry, combining exotic tonewoods, flawless craftsmanship, and versatile electronics. An instrument that’s as inspiring to play as it is beautiful to look at.
