Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a rare and unique variant of the 1940's Electro Voice 1st generation 630 microphone. This particular model was sold under license by E.V and sold under the Auricon brand name. They called it the model E-6. Electro Voice sold a few of it's mics to other companies such as Rauland Borg, Pierce, Auricon and Dukane to name a few. This mic comes with the stand shown in which to display as it has been tested and has a dead element.

Pic # 2 shows this very design in an old 1940's E.V catalog along with several other models of that time period.

I have seen quite a few different labels on a 630 type mic before but only about one dozen or so by this company. This is the early 630 type with the slender, elongated lower pistol grip.

Again, this E-6 model has been tested and has a non-working original element. These were originally manufactured as a "general purpose" mic for use as dispatch and public announcement. They were also used for singing and broadcasting. These 630 mics also have an omni-directional pattern. It will still make a great mic as a display piece in any mic collection and very unique due to it's rarity and nice overall condition.

The polished chrome housing has a very nice luster despite some very small pitting and scratches as seen in the pictures provided. The mic is free of engravings, dents or dings and is 100% complete. The Auricon badge shows wear in the finish but completely legible. The threads for the cable and stand are perfect with zero stripping. Overall this piece is physically a 7 + on a scale of 1 - 10.

The joint mechanism has plenty of tension so you can get just the right angle needed on the head of the mic via a side screw on the lower joint mechanism.

MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS PART OF THIS SALE...

The stand itself is a custom piece that was made by somebody way back in the day. It's a wood design with an Atlas AD-11 chrome mount and short riser. It makes for a very stable platform and looks very nice despite some frill holes on the bottom.

The wood is appx 5 inches X 5 inches across X 3/4 inches thick. With the mic on top it's 9 inches tall.

The wood has a nice laquor finish and a great color. It has the 4 rubber pads that will help to keep this heavy stand from scratching any surface it may rest on.  She'll make a great display piece anywhere in the home or office or studio or a great award for anybody in the music or broadcasting industry.

As with all my vintage microphones for sale...
