Purple Cat Audio Forage Fuzz (mojo germanium fuzz face)

This Fuzz Face has a signal path that is made entirely of reclaimed vintage components. Power filtering and other modern features are new components. Everything else is period correct and carefully measured.

Germanium transistors have gains in the vintage sweet spot. Carbon comp resistors throughout. The knobs are even vintage Bakelite. Everything about this except the brand name is authentic. The biggest difference is that these components have been measured for drift, the power section is quieter, and a voltage inverter allows you to use a standard 9v power adapter. All for considerably less than you’d pay on the used market for an original with all of its potential problems.

Fuzz control has been hard wired to full on. External bias for Q2 offers a wide range of tones from subtle shifts to the midrange to gated, spitty, and broken fuzz. The “proper” bias is marked so you know where to start. Output volume has been raised to accommodate for the bias starve.
