This one’s a bit of a mystery — and a good one.
No label inside, but based on the craftsmanship, tonewoods, and hardware, I believe it’s from the 1970s and almost certainly Japanese-made — likely by Yamaki or a similar high-end workshop producing Martin-style acoustics at the time. There are subtle differences from a stock Yamaki Custom 150, which makes me believe this could be a custom build.
Specs & Features:
• Solid spruce top – responsive, warm, and clear
• Rosewood back & sides – deep, rich tone with excellent projection
• MIJ-style tuners – smooth, stable, and classic vintage look
• Vintage-style bridge – secure intonation and great resonance
• Comfortable neck profile – plays effortlessly up and down the fretboard
• Includes hard shell case (not pictured)
Condition:
Excellent for its age. Some minor cosmetic signs of use, but no structural issues, breaks, or repairs. Professionally set up and ready to play. Action is comfortable and the tone is everything you’d expect from a well-aged rosewood/spruce combination — rich bass, clear mids, and shimmering highs.
Why You’ll Love It:
If you’re a fan of vintage Japanese acoustics — think Yamaki, Alvarez Yairi, Takamine, Morris, K. Yairi — this is the type of instrument that punches far above its price. Incredible craftsmanship, premium tonewoods, and the kind of seasoned tone you only get from decades of playing.
