The most sought after Flying V replica in the vintage guitar industry!

Built in 1992, this is a clone of a 1967 Flying V in custom color Frost Blue that was offered by but never ordered in that year. This guitar is made of all Reclaimed, Old Growth Honduran Mahogany from the Kalamazoo factory. Factory Brazilian fingerboard is from a 1967 Melody Maker (same as used on Flying V’s at the time). 1960’s factory paint. All period correct 1966/67 electronics with factory solder joints where possible and remaining solder joints were painstakingly reproduced to factory specs to look original. Only thing that is not original 1967 is the pickguard. Factory correct longer neck joint shelf. Stinger headstock. Just incredible!!

Made by a luthier apprentice of an Authorized Repair Center. Though this one is not a factory authorized instrument, for decades this luthier made Authorized, one-off guitars which were then sold as factory made guitars. He made four V’s in 1992-1993. Two Sparkling Burgundy (last photo above is of one of the completed Sparkling Burgundy guitars in 1996), one Pelham Blue and this Frost Blue example. Two of them are documented on the weebly Flying V website page titled “Refins & Reissues”. I’ve included some screenshots of this website for reference. These guitars and this luthier should be as lauded as Kris Derrig and Peter Max. In fact, his work is much more authentic than the two mentioned above.

“There are a few forgeries that have unsuspectingly been sold over the years for big money.  All have been advertised as 100% original or "highly original" or similar.  I have noted two of them below.

One of them is a fake "aged" sparkling burgundy Flying V that sold online several years ago (2009) for huge money.  It is now owned by the Songbirds Guitar Museum in Chattanooga, TN.   

There is also a fake "aged" pelham blue Flying V that was pictured in several publications in Japan in the late 1990's and early 2000's.  It recently surfaced at a guitar show in 2019.  Both of these "fakes" were built in the mid-1990s by the same craftsman and were later stolen.  The craftsman contacted me and told me this information about the two Vs, even though I already had my suspicions about the burgundy one.  To this date, no other pelham blue 67 Flying Vs have ever surfaced.  It was rumored that back in the early 1970s, Wally Bryson of the Raspberries had a real 67 pelham blue Flying V with natural neck treatment and black stinger, but this rumor has never been substantiated.”  

And there you have it! An unbelievable opportunity to own the most correct recreation of a 1967 Flying V ever made. 33 year old build constructed with 57 year old Kalamazoo Factory wood.
