PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This Neve 33115 is a Class A/B Mic Pre with 3 band EQ and hi passfilter. The 33115 is essentially one half of the EQ points of the 33114. Tightand punchy!

EQ CONTROLS ARE:

• High-shelf fixed at 10 kHz
• High pass filter at 27 - 47 - 82 - 150 - 270 Hz
• Low shelf EQ points: 33 - 56 - 100 - 180 - 330 Hz
• Hi-mid bell EQ points: 390 - 820 Hz; - 1.8 - 3.9 - 8.2 kHz
• Separate mic and line inputs
• Mic input attenuation from -10 to -80 dB in 5 dB increments
• Line input attenuation from +10 to -20 dB in 5 dB increments
• Phase reverse
• EQ bypass

This is an original, vintage unit taken from a now decomissioned desk,was in working order but might need a little servicing as this was in storagefor some time so some of the pots turn, but are a little stiff - I am sellingthis single module as is. HISTORY

Formed in 1961, Rupert Neve & Co. was focused from the beginning ondesigning and building the highest quality professional audio components. Afterestablishing itself in the marketplace, and moving from Rupert's house to anewly built factory in Melbourn, England, Neve went on to create three of itsmost iconic products: the 2254 Compressor/Limiter in 1968, the 1073 Mic Pre/EQin 1970, and the 1081 Mic Pre/EQ in 1973.

Aimed at the broadcast market, these units were found in numerouscustom-built Neve consoles of the day. And because so much of their work wascustomized, there are many variants on the basic 2254 Compressor and 1073 MicPreamp, including different form factors, cosmetics, components and features.

Using Class A discrete, transistor designs, meticulously hand-wired andbuilt to last, Neve became the world standard for excellence in broadcast andrecording studio consoles. From the small-format BCM10 and Melbourn mixers, tothe large-format 80 Series, these consoles continue to be treasured today,while standalone modules from them can be found in the racks of the beststudios all over the world.

To this day, the most important Neve products from the late 60s andearly 70s are still manufactured according to the original specs. The reason isobvious - no other gear has that ‘Neve sound’, and there is no substitute forthe real thing.

The 33115 is identical to the Neve 1073 topology wise, class-a discreettransformer balanced in and out, and has the same 3 band equalizer (HF Shelf,Mid Peak-Dip, LF Shelf) and Hi-pass filter (5 selectable frequencies), howeverthe frequencies are slightly different, to meet the stringent requirements ofthe BBC, as these modules were originally from a Broadcast desk.  Thecircuits are identical, with the exception of different resistor values in theEQ circuit to meet the BBC specs.  As a result, these are the “hidden gem”1073 that is highly coveted because it is a hand-wired originalfrom the 70s or 80s.
