The original Revstar guitars launched in 2015—our first new electric guitar series in more than a decade. A completely refreshed lineup was introduced in 2022.
MUSIC AND MOTORSThe Revstar style is inspired by café racer motorcycles—stripped-down performance machines that were customized to reflect the personality of their riders.
MODERN. CLASSIC.Revstar balances Japanese innovation and traditional artisanship. Modern features enhance playability, versatility, and tone, while the design references classic Yamaha electric guitars going back to 1966.
HANKO MARKUsed in place of a signature in Japan, the hanko stamp on every Revstar guitar is our seal of approval. Element and Standard models feature the “Revstar” hanko, while the stamp on Professional models signifies “Made in Japan.”
REVSTAR PROFESSIONAL CHAMBERED BODY WITH ACOUSTIC DESIGNRevstar Professional guitars feature chambered bodies designed to sculpt tone and reduce weight, with carbon reinforcement in the body and neck to improve vibration transfer.
5-WAY SWITCHINGPositions 2 and 4 slightly delay the opposite pickup for a subtle phase shift that offers a fresh take on classic “in-between” sounds.
FOCUS SWITCHThe push/pull Tone control activates a passive boost with an effect similar to overwound pickups—darker highs, increased mids and lows, and an aggressive character.
CHOICE OF PICKUPSRSP20 and RSP20X feature humbuckers, and RSP02T offers P90-style single-coils. All pickups are custom designed by Yamaha and use Alnico V magnets for powerful tone.
INITIAL RESPONSE ACCELERATIONYamaha’s I.R.A. process applies specific vibrations to release stresses between an instrument’s components, resulting in a new guitar with “played-in” sound and feel.
