Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.
You are looking at a highly collectible 1940's era Electro Voice V-1 "Velocity" Ribbon microphone in non-working condition that comes with a period Atlas DS-5 desk stand in which to display. A smaller ribbon mic made by E.V and certainly one of the most unique. This would make a great mod project or even an award for somebody in the music or broadcasting industry.
Pic # 2 is from an old 1946 Electro Voice advertisement showing it's basic characteristics.
The V-1 series is about 3 times smaller than the much larger V-2 produced by Electro Voice during the same time period. This V-1 measures 6 1/2 inches tall X 2 1/2 inches wide. The polished chrome body shows almost no wear as seen in the pictures provided and the nicest V-1 I have ever offered for sale on Ebay or Reverb. The E.V label looks pretty damn nice too. The V-1 sits on it's original yoke / swivel and it works nicely allowing just the right amount of tension and desired angle. No wear on the chrome tightening / thumb screws. Both front and rear chrome screens have zero tarnishing as seen in the pics and free of any dents. All original components inside including original ribbon, transformer and all screws. The on / off switch still works and slides smooth.
This first generation Ribbon mic is in non-working condition. I find that few V-1's still work so this example is typical of a V-1 this age being non-working. This will make a very nice display mic however unless you have the ribbon and motor replaced. I know a gentleman who can get this up and sounding fantastic for a very reasonable price if you are interested? The company is called ENAK and they are based out of New Jersey.
Cosmetically it's a very conservative 8 + on a scale of 1 - 10. Very impressive due to the fact that these polished bodies scratch and pit easily over the years. Again, this mic is an absolute gem.
MICROPHONE STAND IS PART OF THIS SALE...
The stand is a period 1950's Atlas DS-5 model desk stand. The stand is an excellent platform for this mic as it's quite heavy and very wide. The cast iron base has original grey paint which is pretty nice overall with lite wear.
This is the earlier Brooklyn, New York model so even though it's just a few years newer than the V-1 it's very close in age and compliments the mic nicely.
This taller stand gives the microphone additional height. Mic with stand is appx 13 1/2 inches tall X 6 inches across. The stand has a nice 6 inch chrome riser with virtually no wear. Just a some lite discoloration on the base and it comes with 3 original pads.
I'd give the stand a solid 8 + on a scale of 1 - 10.
As with all my other vintage microphones...
