1996 Rick Turner Electroline

Silver Metal Flake, a brilliantly designed bass from our brilliant late great pal Rick Turner (R.I.P).

In brief: Rick was in a band called Autosalvage that was signed to RCA records. Then he worked at Gibson and then co-founded Alembic in 1969. He made guitars for Phil Lesh, Jackson Browne, Ry Cooder, David Lindley and most famously for Lindsey Buckingham. Rick also wrote a column in Acoustic Guitar magazine and built solid bodied instruments. He was a genius.

These Electroline basses are part of his genius mind. This has two pickups, a piezo pickup in bridge position and a magnetic pickup in the middle. The controls are for volume, blend (between the two pickups) and the bottom knob is for tone.

In the late 90’s Rick replaced the neck on this bass from a maple to ebony fretboard. All the paperwork that Rick sent when he did the replacement is included. It weighs in at 8.7 pounds and sounds like 300. A killer bass and a great piece of bass guitar history. Comes with the original hard case.
