1979 Hamer Sunburst

Up for sale is my 1979 Hamer Sunburst. This has an interesting story. The guitar was re-necked with a 3 piece Mahogany neck, with a vintage Brazilian Rosewood board. 

The guitar body was purchased from a Japanese collector and all restoration work was performed by master guitar luthier, Gil Chavez. Mr. Chavez is widely known for his work at Valley Arts back in the early 80's and is a trusted craftsman. 

The cool thing is, Gil modeled the neck from his 60's 335. So upon picking up the guitar for the first time, it felt like "home". And no, not that horrible skinny style 60's neck - a proper full profile. Please see attached photos of the guitar in its restoration process. 

The body itself has all the battle scars you would see from a 46 year old guitar. I tried to get as many detailed shots as possible. As you can see there's a bit of finish checking and the guitar does have some deep scratches and wood missing from the body. I should also note, there are extra holes for the strap button on the bottom of the guitar and on the top horn. I personally put the button in the middle for greater balance. 

The guitar features a set of Seymour Duncan Green Magic pickups. These really compliment the guitar and sound totally balanced. And with that flipped magnet on the neck pickup, you get that cool out of phase sound while in the middle position. Much better than the set of Dimarzio 36th Anniversary PAF's that were originally in the guitar.  

Currently the wiring harness features all new VIP Pots (Centralab replicas). I will include the original pots as well. 

And for tuning keys I went with the new Tonepros Grover style tuners.

Far from a museum piece, but f*ck does it have all the mojo in the world. This is a great opportunity to grab an amazing guitar and a reasonable price. 

* The last late 70's Sunburst I saw went for over $5k.
