The Paul Reed Smith Eddie’s Guitars Wood Library Special Semi-Hollow with Rosewood Neck in Faded Whale Blue is a visually electrifying and sonically refined masterpiece that epitomizes everything PRS does best—innovation, beauty, and uncompromising tone. Crafted as part of an exclusive Wood Library run for Eddie’s Guitars, this model takes the revered PRS Special Semi-Hollow platform and elevates it with rare tonewoods, exquisite aesthetics, and a versatile electronics package that unlocks an extraordinary tonal palette.

At first glance, the guitar’s Quilt Maple Ten Top in the fiery Faded Whale Blue finish is absolutely mesmerizing—deep, rippling figure and saturated, multi-dimensional hues make it a visual showstopper. Beneath this stunning top lies a lightweight and resonant mahogany back, adding depth and warmth to the instrument’s naturally airy semi-hollow tone. The semi-hollow construction not only shaves off weight—resulting in a comfortable 7 lbs 4 oz—but also brings a certain liveliness and harmonic richness that solid bodies simply can’t replicate.

What truly sets this build apart is the use of East Indian rosewood for both the neck and fretboard—a rare luxury. This choice imparts a unique tonal fingerprint: smooth, round highs, a slightly scooped midrange, and exceptional sustain. Combined with PRS’s Pattern neck shape, it offers a substantial, classic feel that is incredibly comfortable for both lead and rhythm playing. Topping the fretboard are stunning Mother of Pearl and Paua bird inlays, which shimmer against the dark rosewood and provide a touch of elegance and PRS heritage.

The Special Semi-Hollow is celebrated for its tonal flexibility, and this Wood Library version pushes that even further. Outfitted with a pair of PRS 59/09 humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions—known for their clear vintage voice and smooth warmth—alongside a Narrowfield pickup in the middle position, this guitar covers everything from classic humbucker crunch to focused single-coil sparkle. The volume and push/pull tone control, along with a 5-way blade switch and two mini-toggle switches, give you coil-splitting and a range of pickup combinations that unlock expressive versatility for virtually any genre or playing style.

Function meets form with PRS Phase III locking tuners and the Gen III patented tremolo bridge, offering tuning stability, precise intonation, and smooth vibrato action. The Smoked Black hardware completes the look, lending a sleek, modern edge to the guitar’s otherwise classic and ornate visual identity.

Every detail of this instrument has been curated with care—from the hand-selected tonewoods to the complex electronics to the flawless build quality that PRS is world-renowned for. Housed in a Black Paisley hard case, the guitar is as protected as it is pampered.

The PRS Eddie’s Guitars Wood Library Special Semi-Hollow in Faded Whale Blue isn’t just a special run—it’s a statement. For players seeking boutique quality, extraordinary feel, and a sound as bold as its appearance, this guitar is nothing short of breathtaking. It’s more than an instrument—it’s inspiration in your hands.
