*Recently, an article from 'Guitar World'...

Fender, Inc. has put their dealers on notice, that the use of 'Ash Wood' is going to be discontinued in their regular production, and are going to use Alder and Pine for most popular models. However, the use of pine is not new to Leo Fender, his first solid-body prototype was a pine body, and he continued to use pine in his few-first productions. Just read down half through these articles, Fender is going with pine for their standard solid body material... Are there any other woods that could match the visual and tonal qualities of ash?

“Yes, we are looking at other woods - there are some that are very on-brand for Fender, like pine. "There was a decent amount of that stuff back in the day - we made some pine guitars and have even used it recently. So we’re looking at roasted pine -people worry about it being soft, though some species are softer than others." However, Southern Yellow Pine is not in the category of 'Soft' woods. When Fender discovers yellow pine, they're going to hit the 'Jackpot' of reasonable priced 'Tonal' resonance woods...
