Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a rare AKG microphone from the 1970's era called the Maestro DM-700 which is a dynamic cardioid microphone with outstanding sound characteristics and set at Low impedance. The mic has a smooth tone with an adjustable bass drop off switch making this ideal for broadcasting and singing as it was intended. This mic comes with the AKG mic clip, new exterior pop filter, black vinyl case and original Maestro box shown.

The uber modern contemporary design makes it stand out among the more boring rounded stick mics of today with it's two tone gold finish and black globe. Just a bit more aggressive looking. I don't have any info on this mic as it's a much rarer model and seems to have been sold for a short time.

The mic was probably very expensive for it's time having both the on / off switch and built in bass drop off switch. The sound on this mic is superb having a warm rich tone which again, is adjustable and the DM-700 has an excellent frequency response. The uni-directional qualities are outstanding. Very much a studio mic.

The one downside to these mics are that the inner foam pop filters are not accessible due to the fact that the front screen is glued into place. As the foam deteriorates over the decades the foam needs to be replaced but getting the front screen off is difficult. It will take many more years for the glue to deteriorate as well so that the front screen can be removed. In the meantime a new exterior heavy duty black foam pop filter is provided to use with the mic which really cleans up the sound of the mic. Far better than even the original inner pop filter and you'll appreciate having it. It's a new pop filter made by Auray and it fits like a glove. It looks really nice on the mic too.

The DM-700 is an all metal design which is a somewhat light weight microphone. It's appx 6 1/2 inches long X 2 inches wide at the tip.

As you can see there is extremely lite exterior wear on the gold finish of this mic with just lite scuff marks and scratches. It's free of any dents or fractures on the handle but there are a couple subtle dents on the front screen. The front screens are metal and free of tarnish and odors. The Maestro label that encircles the pop filter shows just lite wear but completely legible. These DM-700's only seem to pop up once every couple of years.

The mic comes with an AKG model mic clip. It shows no wear and works perfectly grasping the mic with plenty of tension and it will screw onto any desk or floor stand as well.

Mic takes a standard XLR cable which is not included. I cleaned the XLR pins on the mic to ensure a perfect connection was a cable is attached.

The original hard to find original black vinyl case and box are included and very cool accessories that's are in good shape overall with typical wear. The black case is a good place to store the mic while not in actual use. Always great for resale value as well.

MICROPHONE STAND IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.

Overall I would rate this mic a very conservative 7 + cosmetically speaking on a scale of 1 - 10. The real beauty of this mic is the sound it produces and I would recommend actually using this piece rather than for display. She's got plenty of life left in her.

As with all my vintage microphone and related items...
