Tokai is widely regarded as one of Japan’s most legendary guitar manufacturers,
known for producing some of the finest replicas of iconic Fender and Gibson models.

Their attention to detail and build quality have earned them global respect—so much
so that Fender themselves contracted Tokai to manufacture Japanese Fender guitars at one point.

In addition to their replicas, Tokai also made waves with their originalTalbo model (featuring an aluminum body), which gained international attention through its use by INXS.

This particular model,
the Tokai TST-40, is a prime example of Tokai’s craftsmanship during
the golden era of Japanese guitar manufacturing in the mid-1980s. Originally named “Springy Sound,”

the model was later renamed to “Goldstar Sound” after some legal pressure from Fender,
who were understandably unhappy with the cheeky, spaghetti-style logo that closely mimicked their
own branding.

This TST-40, serial number 221847, features:
A maple neck with rosewood fretboard
A basswood body
Ceramic pickups that deliver punchy, clear vintage tones
A two-point tremolo bridge
A 5-way pickup selector switch

Most notably, a headstock that faithfully mirrors the original Fender Stratocaster shape,
unlike the slightly modified versions seen in later Tokai models.

Please note that the back panel is missing.
The tremolo arm is included, though it is not the original one.
Considering its age, this guitar remains in very good condition for a 1980s instrument.
