KU5A is an active ribbon microphone released in 2018 as a reissue of the RCA BK-5 by AEA, which repairs and reissues various vintage ribbon mics. It requires the use of phantom power.

It has been stored in a our studio.The body has some signs of use, but works perfectly with no functional problems.

The hypercardioid design is rare for a ribbon mic, and the construction is resistant to blowing, so it can be used for vocals as is.

Because of the intense proximity effect, a low-cut filter can be turned on with a switch on the rear panel.

The ribbon can also be located by shining a light on the side grille and looking through it. (Copper-colored metal can be seen.)

This can be used when the phase needs to be matched with other microphones such as dynamic microphones.

It was used for vocals, drums, guitar amplifiers, etc.

Sounds somewhere between a ribbon mic and a dynamic mic. It is great!
