Up for sale is this vintage 1970's Gibson J-50 Deluxe acoustic guitar project. This instrument will require parts and work to be playable, so please be sure to read the entire description and see all of the photos. This one is offered "AS IS" and "AS FOUND".

This guitar has several major issues including badly rotting binding all the way around (which has resulted in numerous small cracks around the edges on the back, pictured), a bad headstock repair (that is very stable) that includes a thick veneer over the front of the headstock, a non-functioning truss rod (there is currently a decent amount of relief in the neck), and several repaired top cracks (one on the lower bout, a large pickguard crack that has been cleated on both sides of the soundhole). We are not sure how it will react under string tension, but we would assume that this one needs everything to be on the safe side, so assume that it will need a neck set as well. The serial number is present but was lightly stamped and is under additional overspray, so we can't make the whole thing out to pin down an exact date on this one.

A slightly older 1960's Gibson softshell case is included. The case is in nice condition for its age but does show wear. One latch (at the butt end of the body) is missing but everything else is present and functional. There is a strong mildew smell to the liner.

Overall, this one needs everything but is a perfect piece for someone who wants a fun project or wants to try their hand at some heavier-lifting repair work. Don't miss out, these usually go pretty quickly...
