For sale is one tested and functional tascam 58 1/2 inch 8 track tape machine. This is considered by many to be a very excellent sounding tape machine. All channels record and playback with fully functional transport and meters including lamps. This is the sought after XLR version. The heads look good and rollers seem to have plenty of life in them. It also seems as if it has had low hours of use. Two minor damaged areas are one of the arms for the head cover has broken however the head cover still functions and raises and this does not affect the sound or function. The second is that the push in lower head cover that protects the heads in the tape path does not stay in when pushed in. This also does not affect the function or sound and is probably an easy fix. There is NO degradation or wear on the transport controls or really any buttons there is a slight dent on the head cover door but the overall condition is great. The machine handled tape well and transport functions performed as expected when tested with a reel of ATR half inch. This as all vintage gear is sold as is and will most likely need to be calibrated to the end users taste.
