This fabulous (used) Vox AC30 Top Boost from 1967 is for sale in our store.
The 1967 Vox AC-30 Top Boost marked a major milestone in the evolution of the legendary British tone. In the spring of 1967, Vox introduced a dedicated Top Boost section, complete with independent Bass and Treble controls, alongside the existing Normal and Brilliant channels. This innovation provided significantly greater control over high-end response and offered, for the first time, a smoother, more dynamic overdrive.
Sonically, the AC-30 Top Boost delivered the signature crystal-clear yet full-bodied clean tones the model is known for, remaining articulate even at high volumes. The musically responsive Bass and Treble controls allowed players to adapt the amp perfectly to different guitars and pickup configurations.
When pushed harder, the amp revealed its unmistakable, harmonically rich “chime” — a defining overdrive character that shaped the sound of countless British Invasion bands and later contributed to the worldwide success of players like Brian May.
Today, the 1967 model is especially sought after by collectors, as it represents the first production run to feature the now-iconic Top Boost circuit.
