Serial: 72238
Up for grabs is my 1939 Martin D-18—an incredible example of pre-war craftsmanship with that unmistakable tone. I’m not in a rush to sell, but open to letting it go if the right buyer comes along. If you’re mad about the price, please see the one for sale at Carter Vintage with a full refin and headstock repair for $45k.
Specs & Condition:
• Classic pre-war D-18 with tons of character
• Unoriginal but older tuners, pickguard, and bridge (both pickguard and bridge are oversized)
• Slight overspray and finish work around the bridge—tastefully done and barely noticeable
• Minor crack repairs throughout, all professionally handled
• Repaired crack at the top of the sound hole where the fretboard meets the body
• Neck is dead-on with plenty of saddle left
• Strap button added to the heel
• Structurally solid and ready to play
• Sounds phenomenal—warm, open, and resonant
Includes:
• Period-correct case
• Free insured shipping to the lower 48
This is a rare opportunity to own a piece of guitar history that’s not just collectible, but fully playable and inspiring every time you pick it up
