The Boss Chorus Ensemble CE-1 is considered by many to be the best sounding Vintage Chorus & Vibrato pedals ever produced. These units were produced in the 1970's and 1980's. The serial number 971969 on this Boss Chorus Ensemble CE-1 suggests it was likely manufactured in 1980.

Condition

What's important to note on this particular listing is that The Matsushita MN3002 bucket brigade chip was recently replaced by Paul Morte at Technical Services in Orange (they serviced the unit as well) - please see the photo of the dated receipt and old chip in this posting. These chips are in very very short supply - extremely hard to come by and if you do happen to locate one, as of this writing, they are quite expensive. When this chip goes bad (and they do go bad), the CE-1 become nothing more than a fancy paper weight. I had the chip replaced last year, and the unit has not seen much more than an hour or 2 of use.  I purchased this CE-1 back in 1990 and it lasted up to 2024 before the chip went bad - so that's quite a long time. The Matsushita chip is the heart and soul of this units. Fortunately with the new chip installed in this chorus is basically like brand new and should last another 40 years or more.

This chorus has a few dings on the outside - but one look inside the case shows that it is clean and well taken care of. The grommet on the power cord where it attaches to the chassis is missing/broken off - but it does not cause an issue (see photo). Please see the YouTube video demonstration of this unit that we have provided on this listing.

Once sold, we will double box the Chorus when shipped and provide Reverb insurance as well. Thank you for looking and feel free to send us an email with any questions or concerns you might have.
