Early 1970s  Gibson ES-150DC Custom Heritage Cherry sunburst finish. Everything original – pickups w/ Gibson covers, wiring, knobs, etc - except the tuners have been changed to Schallers. Frets appear original low medium jumbo as Gibson used.  Frets show little wear (see image). Neck is straight with a touch of relief exactly same both sides. Truss rod is functioning. Action is superb. Back of neck has some finish and wear marks as shown in images.  Original Hard Case which is solid but cover cosmetically challenged.  Shipping is high as I intend to have professionally packaged and fully insured either at FedEx or through Reverb system as buyer prefers. I’ll refund difference.

Commonly stated at various sites is that Gibson stopped using Orange Labels in 1969.  But the “Made in USA” on headstock with the serial number started in 1970 according to other sources.  The “Gibson” embossed PU covers were by various sources late 1970 to early 1972.So this guitar is likely a 1970 or 1971 and less likely a 1969 or 1972.  I contacted Gibson and they believed early ‘70s.

On Youtube: Norman's Rare Guitars: 1970 Gibson ES-150D in Walnut | Guitar of the Day    According to Norman’s Rare Guitars at 3:00 of the video the standard colors are Blonde and Walnut and only a “handful . . . 5 or 6” cherry sunbursts were made.  The truss rod cover is embossed “custom.”  Standard finishes are Walnut and Blonde so this is only ES-150DC one in cherry sunburst for sale or seen in a long time.
I asked and Gibson emailed that this is a custom color.

I have it advertised in the SF/Bay Area so subject to that sale.
