Cascade Knuckle Head Short Ribbon Mic 2010s - black - Lundahl

This ribbon mic sound great and looks very cool as well. This is a very versatile mic at an affordable price. The transformer of this was upgraded to the Lundahl. You can find lots of examples of the FatHead in use, which is essentially the same mic, but in another packaging. This mic was kept in its hard shell case when not in use and has been cared for, even stored vertically to avoid ribbon sag. Aside from a minor mark on the body and one tiny discoloration on the basket, this mic is in excellent condition. If you are in Berlin, you can certainly come try it out.

The Cascade Knuckle Head Ribbon Microphone is a passive ribbon microphone that combines the acoustic components of the successful Fat Head ribbon with a shock-mounted headbasket design reminiscent of early broadcast microphones. This version includes a Lundahl transformer.

The ribbon motor uses Neodymium magnets surrounding a 2.2-micron corrugated aluminum ribbon measuring 5 mm x 45 mm. The ribbon is mounted symmetrically within the magnetic gap, the front and back of the mic produces the same voicing.

The ribbon motor and headbasket are suspended within a 6-inch diameter metal hoop by eight springs. The output transformer is located within the cylindrical shaft below the shock mount hoop.
