Ready to go. Super Clean Unit.
The TAB V77 is a vintage tube microphone preamplifier module, part of the renowned V7x series developed in the mid-20th century by German manufacturers like Siemens and TAB (Tonographie Apparatebau) for Telefunken. It’s a direct descendant of the famous V72 preamp, originally designed by North West German Radio and the Institute of Broadcast Technology in Hamburg between 1949 and 1952. The V77 stands out for its adjustable gain, reaching up to 80 dB, compared to the V72’s fixed 34 dB, making it a “supercharged” version ideal for applications requiring higher gain, such as dynamic or ribbon microphones. It uses the same tube setup (dual EF804S tubes), choke, and output transformer as the V72, but features a different input transformer with a 1:40 ratio and a specialized power transformer with dual filament windings to maintain a low noise floor. Housed in a single-width Danner cassette, it requires an external gain control (like the W77) for operation.
