This is an EXTREMELY rare snare that doesn't come up for sale often, especially in NEAR MINT condition!

Not to be confused with a standard Pearl Masters, this is an early 1990's all birch 4 ply (5mm) shell with 4 ply (5mm) reinforcement rings!

  • 14" x 5.5" 100% all birch
  • SR-020 Throw off
  • SR12e Butt plate
  • CL55 Lugs (10) 1st generation
  • 45° bearing edges
  • Remo Controlled Sound Clear Batter Head
  • Remo Diplomat Snare Side Head
  • Puresound 20 Strand Snare Wires (Copper ends)
  • 2.3mm Masters Stainless Hoops - Triple Flanged (early 90's Masters used these before Pearl created the MasterCast diecast hoops in the late 90's)
  • #122 Black Mist color (see last pic for close up of wood grain)

The thin birch shell has a very warm, resonate sound that's controlled by the re-rings. Super sensitive and articulate. Pearl only made these thin shells for a few years and then made the thicker 6ply (BRX) shells that did not have reinforced hoops. Those BRX are great snares, but this one is harder to find and brings a new dynamic sound to your snare arsenal. It's perfect for recording but holds it's own on stage as well.
