As many of you know, here at PMR we also like to "hot rod", or enhance, or beef-up loudspeakers, many of which have been "repurposed' into something other than the manufacturer may have initially intended.

Welp, that's the case with this particular pair. A customer traded in a pair of heavy duty 8" DB drive speakers, that were designed for high fidelity sound, but for a MOTORCYCLE. For a motorcycle application, you have to be a great design, being efficient and LOUD.. And that- these are!

The cool thing about this pair is that they have copper capped pole pieces, and the darn things are over 4 pounds each,,,They're pretty hefty loudspeakers for an 8".

I posted them as "new" so I could list more than 1. Reverb doesn't have a "Overhauled" , or " reconditioned", or "repurposed' or "hot Rodded" category, so I went with new, as the metal frames doesn't go bad, and ALL of the components used to build this monster pair are all new OEM/ American made components. There are no "after market", replacement, India made junk or chyna crap in these like a lot of other guys use to make an extra buck, but these are all AMERICAN made parts.

Fellas', even if you don't buy from me- BUY AMERICAN!!!

Anyhow, each frame was stripped down to bare metal and bare magnet, and then EVERYTHING was replaced. From the voice coil out to the front mounting gaskets, they are basically new loudspeakers again- ONLY BETTER

I wanted to offer a really meaty pair of 8", like the old Randall, Kustom, Fender, and Crate products used..Some of you guys with compact 2x8 might want to upgrade to these..

So, the fabrication began to build a pair that have that "Power-Vintage" tonality, and I'll list and describe each component used so that you get a better idea of what these little beats actually are..

*Frame- heavy gauge stamped steel/ 4 spoke frames

*Magnetic composition- anisotropic ceramic

*Hook Up- standard spade terminals

*Weight- over 4 pounds each

*Litz wires - *COPPER*

*Front mounting gaskets- repressed chip/ 4 hole 908 mounting pattern

*Spider assembly- treated textile/large diameter high compliance/ high excursion PROGRESSIVE wave type.

*Voice coil formers- Kraft paper wrapped high temp/power KAPTON

*Voice coil impedance- 16 Ohms sixteen Ohms

*Coil windings- solid AMERICAN MADE copper .......( not that 91% chyna crap)

*Radially vented formers- YES

*Surrounds- .010" treated textile/cloth/ triple "M" profile

*Dust Caps- JBL 3" ALUMINUM domes

*Cone type- SEAMED!

*Cone profile-straight/conical profile

*Ribs- yes, 3 rib design.

*Power- 100 watts

*SPL-97dB

*Response- 50Hz- 6.8 Khz

That'll give you guys a good idea how they're made, and what they'll sound like... You guys know what this stuff is..

As far as tonality, overall, when you add fuzz to them, they have that "power-vintage" tonality. great grit, great speed, detail and resolution. But- when you need to switch to clean channel playing, they are quite even, natural, creamy smooth, slightly woody and quite touch sensitive, so you'll hear stuff you've been missing, both good AND ( if you play like me) BAD....My point is- these have a higher level of resolution and detail that other's simply don't.

The low end is above average for an 8... they sound more like a 10 as far as that goes, probably because of those cloth surrounds which allow the physical excursion/ movement required to make the lower frequencies.

midrange- this is where the magic is for these..

Those seamed cones really are impossible to beat. Because of the density of the paper being used ( the cone material is press rolled, not like a conventional molded cone), the resolution and settling time is hard to beat. Very natural, forward, thick, meaty and 3D in it's presentation

The high end is really nice, especially noticeable by you slide OR acoustic players......That's partially due to the fact that I planned on those aluminum dust caps being part of the speakers radiation surface. I first installed dense fiber glass insulation onto the core piece/above the copper pole to absorb all of the sound/ pressures internally..

THEN- What I did special with these was to wipe the inside/rear of the domes with my "ReZon-Ex", so the "Ice-Pick", and "Beaming" tonality has been dampened and the possible harshness of the aluminum caps have been removed- YET- the high end response remains, and is quite "steerable" with your dials.

These are very well behaved loudspeakers, very even, neutral, and controllable..

*Oh- ALL of my builds now use a COPPER litz wire, instead of the usual "pot-metal" silver stuff, which everyone else uses because of the cost of copper litz wires. The gray/silver stuff does nothing but smudge and smear the signal before it even gets to the voice coil! NOT SO with these- that copper really provides superior resolution to the voice coils, which makes better resolution of the propagated sound.

**Fully tested under full diagnostics and operates without any rubbing, buzzing, smoking, holes, rips, or tears- these are basically new units again- ONLY BETTER!

**** Plus- I'm confident in the fact that you will LOVE these units, that I am offering my 15 day " NO GAMBLE" return option from delivery (((less customer damage))) from delivery date, if for ANY REASON you simply don't like them..

Sooooo, if you need one HECK of an 8" ( or two) SIXTEEN OHM powerhouse with that "Power-vintage" tonality, then here ya' go!

ANY questions or concerns- just ask

THANKS GUYS!!!
