Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at an older Shure 510-C model controlled Reluctance microphone which was given the nickname "Hercules". This 510-C comes with an original short cable and slightly newer Atlas DS-7 model desk stand in which to display.

Pic # 2 is from an old Shure catalog showing this very model mic and it's basic characteristics.

It should be noted right away that this microphone has been cleaned and tested. The microphone does not work as the original element was missing when I got it. This mic should be used only for display, prop or modification purposes.

This Shure 510-C model comes in it's original green paint scheme and burgundy red inner screen. A unique design with an all metal body and was sold under contract by several other mic companies of that time. This mic shows typical lite wear. Small paint chips and scratches here and there. The original burgundy colored cloth screen has zero rips or odors and looks amazing. It's appx 4 inches tall (with the lower adapter attached) X 2 1/2 inches wide. The Shure badge and logo are still present and show just very lite wear. Otherwise quite good overall. Please let the detailed pics be your guide.

This mic was designed to sit on it's own or to be mounted to a taller desk or floor stand. This example does have the adapter attached to the bottom of the mic so it will fit any stand you have though the stand shown is included.

The mic has a short cable that's just 8 inches in length. It's still soft and pliable. Comes with the vintage female Cannon XLR end connector that shows very lite wear and is properly wired if you ever put a working element inside the mic.

This 510-C is an easy 6 + on  a scale of 1 - 10. This will make a fun display piece for any mic collection or if you just need an affordable prop mic.

Again, the stand is an Atlas DS-7 model with the polished chrome risers and painted cast iron base. The DS-7 compliments the mic nicely. The stand is a 1960's era and the stand is about cosmetically the same as the mic. The weight of the base makes this mic harder to tip over as well.

This painted base shows no wear but the chrome risers show scratches. The chrome clutch mechanism works great. The base has the 3 newer felt pads to keep the base from scratching any surface it may rest on. The mic with stand is appx 12 inches tall X 6 inches wide at it's lowest height but can be raised to 17 inches if needed.

             And as always...
