Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a very unique and harder to find 1970's / 80's era Astatic 985 based on the 981 model dynamic cardioid microphone with excellent sound quality and set at Low impedance giving you a beautiful warm, smooth tone. This mic has excellent uni-directional properties as well which is excellent for broadcasting and singing purposes. It comes with the microphone clip shown. This mic will make a very special gift for any musician or broadcaster you happen to know.

This Astatic 985 looks almost identical to the 981 model and comes with a nice sage green painted handle. This mic is similar in design and tone to the Shure SM57 / 545 series mics of that era.

Pic # 2 shows the 981 model mic and I'm sure the 985 has the same overall specs. If there is any difference then I am unaware.

This 981 has a very aggressive look. The output is  strong and will not disappoint. This is one of my personal favorite looking and sounding Astatic mics and you just never see these around. A rare bird indeed. This model mic comes with the on / off switch that works perfectly. It has the standard XLR attachment and the XLR pins were cleaned as well ensuring a perfect signal once the cable is attached.

The 985 is a lite weight rugged mic that was built to last and it's American made.

As you can see in the pics provided the mic is in very good physical condition. The painted finish is stock and shows just lite wear in the form of some subtle scratches. The Astatic label looks very nice and completely legible. The black plastic up front looks great with zero fractures or chips and the painted mesh screen is free of dents, tarnish or odors. I installed a new pop filter as well to help with sound characteristics. You'll really appreciate the sound on this old mic.

The 985 comes with a quality mic clip that grips the mic nicely and allows you to get just the right amount of tilt needed once the mic is mounted to the stand. The clip is in very nice condition and will screw onto any desk or floor stand you have.

Mic takes a standard XLR cable which is not included.

MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.
