1961 Guild Starfire II w/factory Bigsby!
I was out of the country, but am back and relisting this gem!
Label indicates this is as Starfire II, but the Bigsby began the Starfire III series. So this a rare transition model, likely the last of the Starfire II series and the very beginning of the Starfire III.
I would never normally consider selling this guitar, which I have had since 1985. I am trying to buy a house in Mexico! So please check my other listings too!
This is a beautiful, well-kept guitar. I am the second owner and have maintained it regularly, recently repaired the 3-way switch and cleaned up some buzzing. Also replaced the tuners as they were a little loose (still work and I still have them). No extra holes were drilled.
The tone is otherworldly, not your typical semi-hollowbody Gibson tone, but a really unique, fat tone, with a rockabilly twang like none other when you need it. The DeArmond Dynasonic pickups and the Bigsby combine to create a classic Guild Duane Eddy sound. Nothing like it on the planet!
Headstock overlay is lifting a bit, but has been that way for 40 years and presents zero problems. Binding is tight and intact, all hardware and plastic are in great shape. Lots of nicks and scratches and some beltwear on back, but nothing serious.
Ships in its original hardshell case in great shape. Original '60s strap included.
Ask all questions before pulling the trigger. Sold as-is and as described.
