PROJECT Harman/Kardon HK-503 Integrated Amp - READ!

This Harman-Kardon integrated amp has been in my family for nearly fifty years, and though the machine has sentimental value, time and space constraints force me to find a good home for the ol' girl. My parents bought this new shortly after they were married, and it's seen extensive use in multiple different systems since then.

Now, here's the "full disclosure."

Immediately blows both fuses upon power-up. I am sure this dead short is an easy fix, but do not have time to take this amp apart again to figure it out. I replaced all electrolytic capacitors and a pair of output transistors only to cause this problem. I also modified the internal signal cables to connect the pre and power sections of the amp via external jumpers. That way, much like the other famous brands of the mid-80s, you can use this amplifier as a stand-alone preamp or power amp, coupled with a complimenting piece of your choice.

Please note the cosmetic blemishes - bend on faceplate corner, numerous scratches, etc. All knobs, switches, and buttons are present and intact!

Nonetheless, in spite of the obvious flaws, when working properly this will be a dynamite unit. I'll also include the original owner's manual, service manual, and advertisement sheet from back in the day.
