Vintage Conn/Pan American Saxophone. It has the stencil 'Pertin Paris'
on the front of the bell and is also stamped with the ID Ptd. Sept. 14,
1915, followed by 1153489, A, P32321, L (photo included). This serial
number unfortunately does not offer an accurate creation date, since it
was likely made specific for a direct store. However, I was recently
informed that its manufacturing year is most likely 1927. If any
collectors out there have any other ideas or information, please feel
free to message me, (this has been a fun lesson on Conn instrument
history.) Based on research of other similar saxophone's, it does look
very similar to Conn's New Wonder II model of the 1920's, but I am not
certain of this. The finish looks to be gold and silver plated brass
and is in pretty good condition for its age. It also does feature the
mother of pearl finger inlays, but not the inlays on the rollers. There
are scratches and worn areas. The instrument needs a good cleaning and
new pads. I can not speak for its sound, it has not been played in my
presence.
The sax will come with a case (interior in excellent condition, but outside has many dings) and the other items pictured. Thanks for looking!
