Toad Works Mr. Ed

Toad Works Mr. Ed distortion pedal in semi-working condition. It fires up and functions, but doesn't work as it should. The Gain control has a disproportionate increase in the last part of the sweep that also adds a lot of volume. The Tone control doesn't seem to have any effect to my ears. The Level control works as it should.

This pedal is supposed to give a "Brown" sound if you want to get the Eddie tone. It's the second one I've owned, (bought this knowing it didn't work right with the intent to fix it), and although I don't think it gives up the goods on Eddie's tone it's still a good distortion pedal, (when working properly).

If you're familiar with Toad Works early pedals you know they cruedly etched their company name, logo and the pedals serial number on the inside of the back plate. This one is marked as #12, so a very early example.

As you can also see, much of the pedals component makeup is shrouded in black epoxy. I don't think the Gain and Tone issues are here, I think they're in the two controls themselves. But that's just my opinion.

All of this being said, I think that someone with pedal building/repair knowledge could resurrect this and return it to it's former glory...
