This is what an ex-retailer had to say about the Callet New York Trumpet on the site Trumpet Herald:

"As an ex Callet trumpet dealer, good friend and student of Jerry Callet, I can positively tell you that those New York Callet horns are professional models in every sense of the word. Jerry was a Calicchio dealer in the 1970's when he contracted with DEG (Donald E. Getzen), as I recall, to build trumpets he designed, based on the Calicchio. They were medium large and large bores of .460" and .468" and later the super large bore of .472". They sold for a little less than the expensive horns of the day, Bach, Schilke etc. There was also the "Gabriel" model, priced in the student range, but he only made two of these and stopped production because they were so good they would compete unfairly with his other models. (I bought both of them)....  I have a large bore NY Callet and I can tell you it is a really great trumpet, with a leadpipe slightly smaller than a stock Bach, opening to a large bore tuning slide and valve section and then a huge tapered bell similar to a "Wild Thing" but with a normal sized flair to fit standard mutes. I also have a slightly smaller bore Calicchio tuning slide which fits it perfectly for a little more resistance for combo work."

This is the horn that launched Jerome Callet's company. Jerome designed it and Don Getzen made it. It was only made for three years, and because of its pedigree and scarcity, it's become quite a collector's horn. This one, #F1385, is in wonderful condition with a silver finish. It has only a few small scuffs and very tiny dings, which are to be expected for a used 40-year-old horn that has only had two owners. It has a dark, rich lead sound, a true soloist horn.
