This is an Ampex 960 1/4" reel-to-reel that I acquired ten years ago. The heads have been cleaned and demagnetized. A couple of years ago I disassembled and cleaned the mechanical components while replacing all of the belts. The tubes in the preamp all appear to be original and still function well.
Also included is the original owners manual, Ampex stereo-graph accessory, original sales flyer, Ampex head demagnetizer, a foldered copy of the service manual, and a new (not NOS) tape from a current manufacturer in France.
I have to say that this was a fun restoration project with wonderful results! I'm feeling a little claustrophobic these days and need to make some room. I'm selling the unit as-is but you never see these in working condition with all of these extras and a new tape that won't result in sticky shed syndrome. Who wants to bring it home with them?
