1986 Staccato MG Electric Bass
The Staccato Bass Guitar was developed by Pat Townsend and later Chris Jagger joined him. They were financed by Mick Jagger and Bill Wyman and over the period 1985 -1987 (the year of manufacture is approximate) produced around 200 very versatile Staccato instruments (note guitars other than the MG Bass were also produced). The Stacatto MG Bass is manufactured from magnesium alloy and tuned at the base – it has flattened frets and the action can be raised or lowered to suit the musician. Active electronics incorporating a three band EQ unit and two coil tap switches meet a very wide sound spectrum. Arguably the coolest electric bass ever made and it plays great and has an easily dialed in tone. Active electronics incorporating a three band EQ unit and two coil tap switches meet a very wide sound spectrum. The most famous Staccato MG being the chrome instrument used by Gene Simmons of KISS. It can be seen on many of their video/dvd performances. W/OHSC which is at least as cool as the guitar itself.
