Cool and rare George Stone marching snare from the 20's or 30's. Because of it's rare size, it can double as a tom.
It is 10" deep x 16" across. The gut wires seem original and are in good shape. The snare mechanism works as it should. A fiberskyn batter would suit it very well.
As a snare, it sounds like a period correct marching snare. As a tom, it sounds like a tom.
It has a wide tuning range. Everything on it seems original as far as I can tell, with the exception of modern heads.
The shell is in round and resonates very well. Wooden hoops are marked from playing and about a century of use, but aren't cracked or anything like that.
Overall, structurally it is very good.
It records well. It sounds like an old wooden shell drum of yesteryear.
