Here is a rare York trumpet from c.1940 based on the serial number 123849. The closest match to this in the 1939 catalog is the model 42 with the forward second valve slide and single tuning slide brace. This came from the estate of the original owner and may not have been played for quite a long time. The original lacquer has darkened and some is missing, evident in the bright brass areas from a recent cleaning. All the slides and valves are working and this plays well. The third slide is stiff so could use a good servicing to get it working easy again. The valves are not super tight but the slides still pop when pulled; you just can't pull the slides partially out and hear a thump when the valves are depressed.

This comes with what appears to be the original York 4S mouthpiece, case, music lyre, cleaning rod, and unmarked straight mute. The case is pretty rough but still functions. This may be one of the last York designs before Carl Fischer bought them later in 1940 and started using imported stencils.

4.92" bell, 0.458" bore, 18.5" long, 34 oz weight
