AKG C414 B ULS large diaphragm condenser microphone pair, with non-original case and shockmounts.
Serial numbers:
- 27224 (1991-ish)
- 173049 (late 90s?)
The B ULS version has a transformer, and is considered "better" sounding than the later TL versions. I don't know, I've never done an A/B comparison.
This is not a factory-matched pair, but close enough to my ear that I haven't had any problems. Recently used on a session for drum overheads and they sound great.
Capsules are in great shape, as shown in the photos, and it looks like some of the capacitors have been upgraded to film types.
Cosmetically, one of them has some bubbling on the finish and the tip of the pad switch on the back is also broken off (common failure on these), but you can get in there with a toothpick to adjust the pad setting easily.
The other is nearly flawless.
Shockmounts are Rycote USMs and work great with these mics.
