In the early 1960s, Southern California was home to a culture of creativity and daring. Leo Fender set out on a mission to design a new collection of acoustic instruments that captured the spirit of innovation in the artists around him. Working with legendary luthier Roger Rossmeisl, Leo released several unique acoustic models that embodied the character that made Fender a symbol of the rock-and-roll revolution, including unmistakable headstock shapes, easy-playing neck profiles and radical styling, forever changing the face of Fender Acoustics. Today’s Fender California Vintage models draw directly from their mid-century origins with a retro visual vibe, adding 21st-century performance and rich, refined acoustic tone—a true modern alternative to Fender’s classic heritage.

Designed with an innovative Performance X™ bracing pattern, the Fender California Vintage Palomino’s mid-size auditorium body is lightly crafted with a solid Sitka spruce top and solid ovangkol back and sides to effortlessly produce a versatile, articulate voice with exceptional detail, clarity and balance. An ergonomic, modern “V” profile was chosen for the okoume neck, along with a 25.5-inch scale length for optimal sustain and a 6-string tilting headstock with a maple headstock for a distinctive look born from Fender electric guitar DNA. Other notable details include an ovangkol fingerboard with pearloid block inlays for a throwback look, vintage-style tuners for smooth, precise tuning, and a bone nut and bridge for superior harmonic character. Designed with the performer in mind, the onboard Fishman® Presys VT Plus preamp system features soundhole-mounted controls that combine an under-bridge piezo and an internal body transducer to deliver faithful, reliable reproduction of the guitar's natural tone when plugged into an amplifier or recording device. A vintage-style hardshell case is included.
