2007 OM28 Madi-Adi Martin Marquis. The Marquis line of Martins was, I’m told, discontinued to make way for the Authentic line.
The new Authentic OM-28, with this combination of tone woods, lists for about $10k, and appears to sell for $8000 street value.
Thus, while This guitar has a good deal of honest playwear as I have tried to show in the pictures, at this price it is still an outstanding value for dollar. And it is in fine feather for an 19 year old Martin that has been joyfully played. (Picture using pick to show string action is at the 12th fret—plays really light and well but with a big, adi-throated sound when it’s opened up).
The tuners are really tight (which was a common problem with Waverlys at this time). They can be adjusted but it requires a special tool, so I haven’t messed with them — but you can see some unfortunate wear from my peg winder on the treble side that I wasn’t aware was happening until too late. Bummer there
To my ear it sounds just as all of the comments you will find about this particular year and model suggest—spectacular. But of course that is subjective — if you like Martin OMs, it’s a safe bet you’ll really like this one’s sound and playability.
Please feel free to ask any questions and thank you for looking.
